Nick Brandt is a photographer who photographs exclusively in Africa, one of his goals being to record a visually poetic last testament to the wild animals and places there before they are gone at the hands of man. Born and raised in London, Brandt studied painting and then film at St. Martins School of Arts.

Nick Brandt (British, b. 1966) studied Film and Painting from the Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design in London. His close range, black and white images of African wildlife and landscape have garnered him international recognition and is a celebrated activist. Across the Ravaged Land is the third and final volume in Nick Brandt's trilogy of books documenting the disappearing natural world and animals of East Africa. The book's title, combined with the titles of Brandt's first two books, captures the change he has witnessed: "On this Earth, a … Nick Brandt wanted to do exactly that after seeing the ongoing destruction while collaborating on a music video for Michael Jackson, ‘Earth Song’, in Tanzania in 1995. Nick Brandt’s spectacular body of work ‘Inherit the Dust’ was photographed 2014-2015.
